“We must honor and preserve the great American
experiment called democracy.”
Preserving our democracy.
Preserving Our Democracy in a Time of Uncertainty
In this pivotal moment, our Democracy is under attack. Polarization, misinformation, and attacks on free speech and due process threaten the foundation that generations have fought and died to build. Preserving our Democracy means more than casting a vote—it means standing up for truth, protecting free and fair elections, and demanding accountability from those in power. It means reaffirming our shared commitment to the principles of liberty, equality, and justice for all.
If we can win district 11 now, and win just four other similar marginal races, we can unite the full power of the House of Representatives to put the brakes on the Trump Administration's continued attacks on the fabric of our Nation.
Long-term preservation of our nation will also require fixing our broken campaign finance system.
Citizens United dealt a massive blow Democracy.
The Republican-appointed justices, backed by every last Republican Senator, opened up the floodgates to corporate and dark money overflowing our political system and leading to our current predicament. However the court also invited the legislature to answer with clarifying law to improve control of money influence.
My
first act if elected will be to champion applying current campaign contribution maximums
equally across the board, so PACs, special interest groups and corporations cannot continue to
drown out the voices of individual human supporters. I would then aggressively work to
reduce the current $7,000 per candidate limit (based on primary plus general contributions), so that
every day working class voters have the
same political influence and power as wealthy elites, corporations, PACs and special interest groups.
Taking the power back will not be easy, and the corporations and
billionaires
will fight us every step of the way. But it's a fight that
we have to win. Please make a
grassroots donation today to help fight the inevitable corporate and PAC money which will attack me as soon as they hear about my plans to
reduce their power, enact fair taxes, and make American government work
for Americans again.
